This program documents the establishment of the United Nations and chronicles contributions of some of the individuals involved in its inception: the first meeting of the United Nations in London in 1946, and the establishment by 1951 of the U.N. building in New York City; Eleanor Roosevelt - her devotion to charitable activities and her achievement as a delegate to the United Nations; Dr. Ralph Bunche, his reputation as a peace maker, earned in turbulent Israel, and later his becoming the first African-American to win the Nobel Peace Prize; Adlai Stevenson's two unsuccessful bids for the presidency in the 1950s, and later service in the United Nations....
